Reconstruction of "Graf Ignatievo" Airport

  • reconstruction of the take-off and landing runway;
  • reconstruction of taxiways;
  • reconstruction of parking places for planes;
  • incorporation of lighting system of the runways;

Main types of construction and installation works performed at the site:

  • asphalt laying - 245,000 t;
  • concrete laying - 11,000 m3;
  • ground works - 99,189 m3;
  • laid geonet - 136,000 m3;
  • drainage system with pipes  Ø200,  Ø400, Ø500, Ø600, Ø800 - 7,000 m;
  • joints processing with polymer-modified paste - 164,495 m;
  • lighting system - laying of 200 km cable;
  • vertical signalization;
  • horizontal marking - 25,000 m;
  • drilling crossing - 27 pcs., each of 90 m.

"Graf Ignatievo" military airport was the largest construction site in Bulgaria for 2001. Its reconstruction was completed only for three moths. This allowed for the organization and performance of the biggest NATO East-Europe training "Cooperative Key 2001".
